State Fair Fun

Sorry no pictures here but I travelled light and didn't want to set down and forget and loose the camara so it stayed home. Today I went to State Fair and Ring Stewarded for SWNDGC club show. It was an awesome show and I think everyone had a good time. Good to see so many beautiful goaties in the ring today. I told the judge I so did not envy her having to decide some of those classes today. WOW. First off I'd like to say that the quality of goats in NM have improved a ton since I started 4 years ago. I love seeing the amazing herds developing and the top quality animals brought in the breeding pool here. Nice going everyone. For those who travelled - Glad you came!!!!! Congrats to those who won or bred the outstanding Champion animals that walked through the arena today: Lost Valley, Hill Country, PrairieWood, FlyingGoat, Seldom Herd, Nizhoni, Cedar Kids, Allen's Mtn View, Nagy Family, Stagg Family, New Family and more (sorry if I forgot you!!!!). Our club has members from all over NM, Southern Colorado, Texas and Arizona. For those of you who don't know yet, our club will be putting on the AGS Nationals next summer so please check out www.SWNDGC.com for upcoming formation and show updates. We would love to have you all join our goat family for shows and fun!

WELCOME Nizhoni DW Tirzah

I've been waiting a year for this beautiful little one. This is Nizhoni's DW Tirzah. Her name means Delight in Hebrew. She is a chocolate Chamoisee out of MCH Esperanza SJ Patience and Joie's sire Nizhoni PV Desert Wind. She is all that and then some!!!! I am loving this baby. WE are trying to get Joie to raise her little sister but so far she's not cooperating without some HELP. This baby is angular, well built and has a lovely sweet personality. I can't wait to watch this little beauty grow. I also look forward to the milkng possibilities with her. She comes from some wonderful milky parents.

The Best Laid Plans ......GO HAYWIRE!

Okay - no picture for this. So, because I thought I had my herd settled and was getting ready for breeding season and was beginning to post my breeding plans they suddenly went awry. Jazzy decided that he was going to "sing" to the girls ALL NIGHT LONG. Now ordinarily that wouldn't be a problem but we ONLY live on a half an acre with VERY close neighbors on all sides we aren't going to be able to keep him. Thankfully we found a good breeding home for Mr. Jazz where is going to be shown and appreciated for his breeding abilities. I hope all the lovely ladies at PrairieWood enjoy his crooning and serenading. I know I appreciate Lora for giving Jazzy a really good home. I will miss his Jazzy self but I can't do (nor can my neighbors) 4+ months of his vocal capabilities. Not too mention I woke up (heehee, not sure I ever REALLY slept) really pooped. So anyway - we have to rethink our breeding plans. Will have more on our lineup real soon.

Piddlin Acres H Calm the Storm.

Here is CBF Nigerian's newest buck. He sired a doeling out of one of our does this spring and she has done INCREDIBLE for her owner. I'm very pleased with the dairy character and strait legs etc. on the doeling. She is lovely! When Storm came up for sale I jumped at the chance to buy him as that cross into my lines worked sooooo well. Storm is out of Piddlin Acres TB Hansel (Lost Valley Tae Bo X Piddlin Acres Fraulin) and Piddline Acres PV Tansy (Piddlin Acres BW Peaceful Voyage X Piddlin Acres WB Paprika). This brings in some of my most favorite lines in Valerie's herd - most notably - Peaceful Voyage, Weisbaden, and Fraulin) Joie is a Peaceful Voyage granddaughter and I love what she has done for my herd so I have HIGH hopes for this little guy. I've been wanting a Fraulin buckling for a long time but financially it hasn't worked - so now I have her grandson. Thank you Sandy for giving me a shot at Storm. I can't wait to see the kid crop this coming year.

BREEDING SEASON

Now that the shows are over and we have a moment's rest from sales, shaving, and showing we are beginning to think through our fall lineup. This is the pair I have pictures for. This is Flying Goat Jazzy Blues at 7 mo and CBF TWinkle Lil Star at 5 mo. They will be bred in late Oct or Early November for spring kid crop. My first two doelings are already reserved and we are considering taking ONE more doe kid reservation as we will be breeding 3, possibly 4 does.
El Cerro Wind in the willows will be leaving us soon for a new home - she will be sorely missed as she has done CBF Nigerians proud with two outstanding and wonderful daughters. Janice - I hope she produces some outstanding offspring for your farm as she did for ours. Jazzy will be available for service to CAE free does beginning in Sept.

Show Wins for SWNDGC July Fling Show

SWNDGC put on their annual July Fling Show. It was the biggest show we have had this year and we really had fun. There were two shows - one ADGA/AGS sanctioned and one AGS only. Our herd did well this time around too so we were pleased.
El Cerro Wind in the Willows who came back to the ring after a 2 year
hiatus (we thought she couldn't show due to her horn scure) and won 1st and 2nd in the two shows and her and her daughter Dixie won 3rd in Dam and Daughter. Nizhoni's Joie de Vivre won 3rd and 1st/Reserve Grand Champion behind SunValley Starlight and Joie and daughter Twinkle lil Star won 4th in Dam and Daughter. CBF Ent'sTwinkle Lil Star won 2 - 2nds and her and Dixie took 1st for Get of Sire. CBF Ent's Whistling Dixie placed 5th in the first show but couldn't show the 2nd due to already receiving her Jr. Champion win in AGS. Shihara's Mace did not do as well as usual as we have a little too overconditioned - DARN! She will be bred soon and going to her new home this fall after breeding. El Cerro Wind in the Willows is for Sale now as my daughter is choosing to show dogs instead of goats (boohoo).

Nizhoni's BB Shihara's Mace

This is our dry yearling Nizhoni's BB Shihara's Mace, She is our yearling dry doe. My daughter and I have determined that she has allergies to goat hair, and grass hay. We need to cut back our herd to what I can manage by myself with minimal help from her. Unfortunately that means we will offer this little beauty up for sale. She has fanatastic bloodlines from Piddlin Acres and TX Twin Creeks both sides. Please email me for pedigree and to ask any questions about this little darlin. She is related on mom's side to our doe Nizhoni's Joie de Vivre who earned her milking star this year. We have no reason to believe this little gal will do as well or possibly better. We are asking $300 for Shihara who is bred for both show and milk. She has done well in the ring for us and we would love to see what she is capable of in the pail but reality dictates otherwise. IF she isn't sold by OCT she will will be in with a buck and will still be for sale for a bit higher price.
