B is for Blue Eyed Bucky Boy (the Big Bad Buck of CBF)

Okay, so I had a moment of exaggeration - He isn't Big and he's not really bad at all - more or less kind of shy. But he is the king of Goatie world here at CBF - Piddlin Acres H Calm the Storm. THE BUCK. and he is blue eyed. So, he gets his own "B" day here on the blog. For those of you who don't own bucks, I don't recommend it to the faint hearted, they are nasty but sweet critters! How is that possible you ask - well, if you've ever been around a buck in rut, well, they are rather UNPLEASANT - peeing all over themselves and generally stinking up the airspace (for quite a distance) around them(even though the girl's LOVE the buck cologne)Not to mention the noises - trust me, being woken up (or kept awake half the night) by some rather obnoxious noises out in the goat pen isn't fun.

Most of you who know me, know I'm not really BIG on blue eyes but this year the blue eyed bucks just came my way. I really prefer MILK genetics as I'd really like to be known as the little herd that has lots of milk - we will see! Anyway, I did not go out looking for Blue eyed bucks but was in the market for a new buck so I bought a buck from Arizona who did not work out for me, I was given a blue eyed black and white (for those of you who follow my blog - Flying goat Jazzy Blues, who now resides at PrairieWood Ranch) who drove me nuts singing to the girls ALL NIGHT LONG. Then, this little guy came my way. I jumped at the chance since my best milking Nigerian has similar lineage as this guy. JUST so happens, he too has blue eyes. Now that the other two bucks are gone, he is here to pave the way for a new generation of CBF babies. I don't care if he throws me a single blue eyed baby but if he passes down some of those milky genetics he's carrying from both PiddlinAcres and Lost Valley we will be very happy campers indeed!

Piddlin Acres H Calm the Storm.

Here is CBF Nigerian's newest buck. He sired a doeling out of one of our does this spring and she has done INCREDIBLE for her owner. I'm very pleased with the dairy character and strait legs etc. on the doeling. She is lovely! When Storm came up for sale I jumped at the chance to buy him as that cross into my lines worked sooooo well. Storm is out of Piddlin Acres TB Hansel (Lost Valley Tae Bo X Piddlin Acres Fraulin) and Piddline Acres PV Tansy (Piddlin Acres BW Peaceful Voyage X Piddlin Acres WB Paprika). This brings in some of my most favorite lines in Valerie's herd - most notably - Peaceful Voyage, Weisbaden, and Fraulin) Joie is a Peaceful Voyage granddaughter and I love what she has done for my herd so I have HIGH hopes for this little guy. I've been wanting a Fraulin buckling for a long time but financially it hasn't worked - so now I have her grandson. Thank you Sandy for giving me a shot at Storm. I can't wait to see the kid crop this coming year.

Welcome Flying Goat Jazzy Blues

Okay, not the best pictures but here is our new blue eyed buck - Flying Goat Jazzy Blues. I had almost given up on the idea of having a blue eyed buck around these parts (and later blue eyed babies ) until my buddy Kat made me a deal I couldn't refuse!!! Jazzy is beautiful. He has a long gorgeous neck, wide escutcheon and strait legs and good angularity, flat ribbing well spaced. It wasn't too hard a decision to take this little guy home. He's so sweet and has very similar lines to our herdsire CBF Entei but he's got my favorite buck Kaapio Acres BT RAcketeer thrown in for good measure. Momma - PrairieWood Bella has a nice, tight, well attached udder and his Sire's dam and granddam have some pretty nice udders as well. Can't wait to see the incredible things Jazzy does to our herd.

Blessed Beyond Measure

This last weekend my dear friend from Flying Goat Ranch blessed us with a new herdsire. This little guy will fullfill several dreams. First is that my husband dearly wanted a black and white. The second is blue eyes in the herd. Handsome little one month old Flying Goat Jazzy Blues will join the herd in one month when he is weaned. He is the son of Prairiewood Bella and PrairieWood Huckleberry. Bella brings in the Racketeer bloodlines I love and Huck brings some pretty stunning lines as well with Lost Valley KW Orion. Player, Huck's dam goes back to MK Ephrath who has a pretty stellar udder. Bella's udder is nothing to be sneezed at and she has a beautiful dairy body to go with a lovely first freshening udder. I know we already have some Orion going on in the herd but this little guy will bring some pretty awesome genetics. We will use him in conjunction with our new little guy from Rancho Esperanza when he arrives.
I will post a picture of little Jazzy when I get a good shot or two without people in the picture. I will also try to get pics of mom and dad. Prairie Wood PuttinOntheRitz

Finally, here is our new herdsire at one day old (actually - not even one day old). He has the same nice genetics as RA Buckshott does but with blue eyes. We are hoping his mother takes her Master Champion this weekend at the show! She definitely has a good shot at it. We will be showing Buckshott and Ritz but usually Jr's don't take the buck championship at shows so it's mostly for fun and practice. We will be bringing this little beauty home in a few weeks after he's weaned. Looking forward to lots of gorgeous Blue Eyed Chamoisee babies out of this little guy!

Changes at Cornerstone

Changes are happening here at Cornerstone, I had hoped to post the picture of our new herdsire but to no avail! After the show this weekend though, i hope I can post more!!! We have sold two of our goats; PrairieWood Sweet Shalom will go to her new home after kidding, and PrairieWood RA Buckshott. Buckshott is being replaced by PrairieWood PuttinOnTheRitz. A blue eyed Chamoisee buckling with the same great genetics as Buckshott. We are counting down the days to babies, We have (we think) two due around April 13th whose pics we will post upon arrival. One due around May first, one due around May 24th, and one due in late June. One (Zelda) is at the moment off getting bred by MCH Steele Ballew's Blue Bayou...can't wait to see those babies! Should be a great baby year here at Cornerstone. We have a show this coming weekend, the annual March Mini Madness show put on by SWNDGC (one of these days I'll get the link up for you Nigie fanatics who want to come to beautiful NM to show!) and sanctioned by ADGA. Should be a great show year this year too. Lots of goats to show! See you all after the show!
